Can a defect I/O board prevent boot?

My MBA is dead. Can't charge. Would not start.

MacBook Air "Core i5" 1.7 13" (Mid-2011)

Can a defect I/O board create this situation? The charger is tested and OK. I have had this situation a week ago. Unplugged the battery and measured the power, seems OK, dismount the I/O cable, and left the Macbook open for 3 hours. After assembling it worked again for a week. Now its dead again. have measured the battery power now its only 2 volts. When trying to charge the battery nothing happens.

No liquids, no bumps - What shall I look fore?

Peter,

Given your problem I don't think your I/O cable is the problem. The power logic is part of the main logic board. It's more likely you have a bad logic board (cold solder joint).

Use a multimeter to test the output of the charger. What does the battery test button tell you? Professional serve people have a place in life too. Even they might have a tough time with this one.
