corrupted iPod and looking for any other tips

Hi

My iPod which initially was saying it was corrupted.

Carried out all the recommended tips toggle hold on off / hold menu / centre for 6 secs. Updated iTunes, have full battery, restore etc etc. BTW connects by firewire not usb.

Yet I kept getting 1429 error or can't restore.

I Tried one more restore before opening it up and it said it was successfully restored to factory settings.

Then

Do not disconnect came up and followed by the same old message "you have an iPod that seems to be corrupted etc etc".

At this stage have nothing to lose so will try anything and wondered if there where any other tips as am sentimentally attached to it.

I suspect it may be time for a new one and

it has served me well though being 6 years old and well travelled.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

A

thanks marcus - I did the folded biz card fix in the blue sponge on the hard drive and it worked - imagine it is its last stand though. :)
