Partial Digitizer Functionality (new screen same issue)?

Recently got an iPod Touch 4 in for repair, customer asked we diagnose his device.

The device was fully functional, except the digitizer would only work on the very left and very right edges, occasionally at the bottom. Assuming a bad digitizer, we replaced it.... only to find the exact same functionality as before!

We have tried other screens as well, but we are concerned about wearing down the connections. Has anyone else had this problem?

I myself have never encountered this before but I would start by cleaning up the connections using isopropyll alcohol. If this does not resolve the issue then check the connections and check no pins are bent within the socket. I have experienced bent pins in the digitizer connection before but this caused a none-responsive touch screen rather than partially responsive but I'd still check it out, if they're bent then do your best to straighten them. I used a tiny sewing needle to achieve this but I'm sure there is a much better suited tool for the job.

Before claiming the pins to be straight compare them to ensure they are actually bent, I suggest using a magnifying glass to have a closer look.
