Macbook pro 17 A1297 Damaged Hard Drive Connector
My Hard Drive Connector attached to the logic board is broken, is it possible to repair this or can i use the Unibody Laptop Dual Drive device as a boot hard drive replacement

You can go with this optical bay adapter, put your hard drive in it and boot: [gekoppeld product ontbreekt of is uitgeschakeld: IF107-079]

Putting the drive in an external case is a good workaround. Soldering logic board components is an advanced DIY project. You might be able to find an electronics/computer repair shop that could reattach the connector if it's not too damaged.
