Replacement Screen will NOT Stay Down. Can I get stronger adhesive?

Hello everyone!

I've repaired these 4th Generation iPod touch's by replacing the display before, and I consistently have the same problem with doing it.

After I'm done with everything, the 3M adhesive strips simply DO NOT keep the glass down. The screen will always pull away and lift off after about 10 minutes. The glass parts are clean and free from hand oils and it just doesn't stick. :(

My next option is to epoxy the display on, but I don't want to do that because if the iPod breaks again, I won't be able to remove the display.

Is there an even stronger option for adhesive strips? Anyone know?

Thanks so much! :D

I have about 10 clothes pegs that I have holding the display on while the adhesive sets works a treat 4 me put a dab of glue in each corner that will give you the best hold... Leave the pegs holding the screen for an hour!

So, the adhesive strips take time to set like glue? To me, they just seemed like ordinary double-stick tape.

Yes as I sayed I use pegs to hold down the screen to let the adhesive set..

If something keeps popping up, always check something underneath it jaw been properly installed.

Everything is properly installed. The adhesive strips simply do not keep the screen down. The screen can easily be pressed into place, where it stays for half a second, and then it slowly starts to peel away from the adhesive.

There is a metal hook on the top half of the glass that hooks with the bottom case. Maybe you forgot it or did not put it properly in place or the bottom case is so bent that it won't hook.

Also you should apply new 3M tape every time you open it up. If the tape is torn, it will not be as sticky as before. After you put everything back together, use something to firmly press the glass, so the tape is pressed tight and firmly holds the glass

I put screen on and together then test for proper functioning. After all is good I power down and place screen face down on soft towel. Place another towel on top and place milk jug filled halfway with water and let sit for appx. An hour. You can leave on there for longer if you would like.

Thanks. Josh.

Note: if you are using something different for a weight.. Don't choose something too heavy as it could cause further damage to your phone.

P.s. the clothes pin idea works great as well just be careful not to scratch screen.. Possibly include shreds of paper towel between screen and each clothes pin.

I have the same problem, I am trying dental floss which was able to firmly set the screen tight to the bezel. Do not know if it will hold when I remove the dental floss...

I have found Bowler Tech adhesives to be much stronger than any other adhesive I have used. With that being said, the iPod Touch 4th gen can be difficult to get the screen flat if the frame is in any way damaged. Using something to add pressure to the screen and hold it down will help.
