Broken small plastic pins on DDR3 RAM holder?

Hello,

I've just upgraded RAM on my Macbook Pro mid 2012 model. I followed the guide on this site.

One memory module was harder to lock inside so I applied little more pressure to lock on.

After that I removed the module and saw some small black plastic shavings on the bottom plate where memory sits.

I don't have other MBP to compare with so could anyone look at this photos and verify that I didn't broke that small plastic pins on the both sides of RAM holder? These pins holds memory module inside a prevent them from jumping out.

To me my pins looks too small and I'm afraid I broke them. They look shaved like half of them are missing or they're normal? I don't want that my RAM jumps out accidentally when I move my MBP or during transfer.

Here's the link where're photos: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ml2clvaxr10ft...

Thans in advance for your answers.

~Sam.

Hi, the plastic shavings might be the small protrusions on the lock, which might have shaved off when inserting the ram. However, ur ram looks ok. Hope this helped.

Thanks for reply. I thought that I shaved off that small protrusions which holds the RAM in place and prevent memory module from jumping out of the socket. So from your point of view it's OK and I don't have to worry about?

As far the pictures u uploaded, it looks fine. Also as you see in the pictures there is ample protrusion remaining to hold the memory in place. I would recommend u use the mbp bearing this in mind. Btw the pictures are fantastic.

Thanks, I took the photos with my trusty DSLR :-) I compared them to another circling on the web and the holders seems to be pretty OK :-) So this topic is solved :-)
