Mark, yes it is possible that you LCD is okay. You will have to open your iPod and take a look at the damage. Check the connector for the display. Make sure that the clip is still on the connector and that it is pushed down. This will secure the cable to the connector. Sometimes those little clips either opens (lucky) or break of the connector. Hopefully it is just opened and your cable dislodged. If that is the case just reinsert and close the clip. If the cable is properly inserted and the connector is okay, you might start with getting a need display. Of course, check all connectors and inspect your logic board for any other damage.
