Low Battery Time/Battery Problems:
The battery quickly runs out or has slow charging speed.
Faulty charging cord
If the charger doesn’t light up after plugged in, or battery icon in the taskbar doesn’t indicate that the device is being charged the charger may need to be changed with another.
Faulty battery
If the battery takes a long time to charge and battery life gets drained quickly, the battery may need to be replaced <insert link here>. This can also be a result of overheating.
Overheating
If the device feels excessively hot and shuts down and the battery doesn’t charge, ensure the vents/fans of the device are clean and not covered in dust and do not block the vents for long periods of time to allow it to cool down.
Audio Missing/Audio Driver Issues:
Speakers don't output audio or audio drivers are malfunctioning.
Incorrect Audio Output
If audio is not muted but speakers don’t output any audio, you may need to ensure that the primary audio output is set to the proper audio output device you are using through the sound settings.
Malfunctioning Audio Drivers
You may need to uninstall then reinstall audio drivers through the device manager and restart the device.
Outdated Audio Drivers
If your audio drivers are outdated, head to the device manager in windows search bar and select sound, video and game controllers and then select update drivers.
General Screen Issues/Screen Flickering:
The laptop screen does not display anything or the screen is flickering.
Backlight Burnt Out
If any external devices are connected to your device, try unplugging those first as they may be the cause of your screen being black. Alternatively, issues may occur when using Windows 10, so try booting up the screen/display by pressing the Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. There may also be an issue with the backlight being burnt out. If the device can be heard booting up (ex. power light turning on, fans kicking up, etc.), try looking at the screen in a dark room. If there is a faint light coming from the screen, the screen itself may be working but the backlight has burnt out.
Display Driver Issue
There may be two problems which would cause the screen to flicker: an incompatible application or a display driver. To check if the display driver is the issue, you’d have to check whether or not the task manager is flickering. If the task manager is flickering, either the programs or the display driver need to be updated or they all may need to be updated. To open the task manager, you can either search for it by pressing the Windows button or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
BIOS Error Screen/System Freezes or Crashes:
Entire laptop system is freezing or crashing.
Outdated Drivers
If your system feels unstable and freezes often as well as crashes, this can be due to outdated drivers. Many of the essential drivers are found in the device manager through the windows settings and updated by right clicking them . If your device doesn’t find an automatic update you can update drivers by searching them on the manufacturers web page.
Damaged BIOS
A damaged BIOS chip can cause the laptop to crash randomly or not turn on. You will have to reset the BIOS chip in order to fix the laptop. To enter BIOS press F1, press F9 to losad default settings, then press F10 to save.
Keyboard Problems/Keyboard Not Responding:
Keyboard is not responding or some keys are broken or sticky.
Faulty Keyboard
If the keyboard is not responding then the keyboard may need to be updated.
Broken or Sticky Keys
Some keys on the keyboard may be sticky or broken so they will need to be replaced. Keys can be removed with a flat-head screwdriver by prying the key up gently then putting a new key on and snap it in.
Laptop Does Not Turn On At All:
Laptop does not respond to any action.
Motherboard Issue
If the laptop does not turn on no matter what you do try replacing <insert link here> the motherboard itself with the exact same motherboard but more newer and see if it turns on.
No RAM
There is not enough RAM for the laptop to turn on. You will have to install more RAM to allow the laptop to turn on.
