I had a swollen battery that popped the display off. Apple store would not replace the battery for $79, so I got a replacement from iFixit. The paper “how to condition your battery” notice got stuck to the glue on the replacement battery, so I used a little bit of Scotch double-sided tape to stick the battery to the case interior. Wish I’d used glue, the display is raised a barely noticeable fraction of a millimeter. Connecting the new battery to the battery cable connector was very difficult. I ended up using a pair of needle-nose pliers to squeeze them (carefully and delicately!) together. Be sure to remove the existing adhesive gasket lining before adding the replacement: I had to use an exacto blade to peel up and cut off a bit of it, then tweezers to pull it off. Applying the replacement double-sided tape gasket is very tricky. If I were to do it again, I’d decouple the display cable first (and get a second pair of hands). Fortunately, I have an LED-lighted magnifier visor and lots of patience.

This is a very tough one. I did break both the power cable and speaker cable off the motherboard, and was unable to separate the motherboard-side connectors from the cable-side connectors even after that. Fortunately, this iBook was already bricked.

Yes, the LONG screw goes into the bottom RIGHT corner if the screen is facing you as it does when you're using the computer.

As you remove the screws that connect the display to the trackpad, the display will detach from the base of the laptop. As the display is now hanging over the side of your work surface, it will fall off when you detach the last screw connecting the display to the trackpad. Be certain not to let it fall and put strain on the inverter cable.

Two other connectors need to be disconnected before you can take out the logic board. One is the power connector which is out of the frame of this photo to the bottom right. The other is the audio connector, out of the frame of this photo to the bottom left, on the left side of the board.

You don't actually have to bend the EMI clip. You can use a 2mm or smaller slotted screwdriver to pry the clip up and out.

When replacing the logic board, be careful not to lose the top connector's wires under the plate beneath the modem filter board.

To remove the screw by the battery case, you'll have to first remove the tape covering the connector that leads to the trackpad.

The pink and white inverter cable connection to the inverter board is very tight. Grasp the notch on the right side of the white connector with needle nose pliers and gently wiggle and pull it out of the socket.

The keyboard connector can be very tightly connected. Use caution and a pair of needle nose pliers to pull it up from the board. The left side of the connector (left as shown in the photo) is easier to grasp than the right, so grab it on that side with the pliers and pull carefully. It will come off.
