I'm gonna say always start out with the simplest and cheapest fixes: 1. Charging cable 2. Battery 3. Charging port 4. motherboard

If you are having issues with your picture it is most likely the LCD that needs to be replaced. However, in that model, you must replace the LCD(inner display) and touch screen Digitizer(outer glass) to resolve this issue, here is what you need: iphone 4 combination screen assembly They also have a video repair guide so you can do this yourself!! It sounds like a possible watere damage problem, check the stickers inside. If not it might be a bad part, I'd send it back if you can and go through where I went because the part I got worked great.. used this iphone video

So that sucks, I did the same thing, and unfortunately you cant just replace the screen because its fused together with the LCD. The easiest thing I found to do is replace the Digitizer screen and LCD together because they come already fused together and you dont have to worry about breaking anything more when you repair it and can do it yourself. I got mine at repairsuniverse, and they had a great tutorial on how to replace it myself. Hopefully that helps you out, good luck
