Hi! My name is Jaqueline Leal (she/her) and I'm a fourth year biomedical engineering major with a concentration in mechanical design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I'll be editing for my introduction to technical and professional communications class.
I'm currently involved with the Cal Poly Scholars Program, the Society of Women Engineers and the American Foundry Society. I also supervise the casting lab on campus! Through this position, I've been able to work with different CNC machines, such as mills, laser boxes, and 3D printers. I've also learned about various casting processes, like lost foam casting, die casting, and sand casting, and how they differ in complexity, cost, and the types of materials they can accommodate. Pictured on the left is the gating system used to cast some mustangs using the lost foam method.
After graduation, I plan to specialize in manufacturing prosthetics or medical devices, combining my engineering skills with my interest in medicine.
