I have the same issue on an ipod touch, I think it is from using metal tools to pry the connections off. I got a faint burning smell when I was replacing lcd. The back camera worked but when opened facetime it locked up camera and reset hasn't fixed it either. I'll be using strictly plastic tools from now on.
