Hello, my Name is Brian Sheahan and I am a sophomore at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. I am majoring in Aeronautical Science with a focus on becoming an airline pilot. I have loved aviation and all things aerospace-related since I was young. Originally, I planned on majoring in aerospace engineering and hoped to design planes. However, after going on a discovery flight when I was in high school, I decided that flying was the job for me. I have been very passionate about it ever since. After graduation, I hope to become a flight instructor at my university to build my flight hours before heading to the airlines where I will strive to eventually become a captain. Currently, I hold a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating. I am also working on obtaining my Commercial Pilot License this year.
This is me with the plane that I completed my first solo flight in.

Throughout my education, I participated in many projects, including the Trebuchet Day that was run by our physics department in high school. I this project I worked in a small team of three people to build a trebuchet capable of firing water balloons 30-35 meters in order to hit our physics teacher. This project required physics calculations to determine and perfect the trajectory of the balloon, as well as woodworking and construction skills to build a trebuchet from scratch. I was able to participate in this twice and was a very fun but complex project. Another project I was able to work on was an anti-bullying campaign at our local middle school. This project required good teamwork and preparation to present in front of the students.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing soccer both recreationally and competitively. I also enjoy skiing whenever I get the chance. Additionally, I love hiking, fishing, and being outdoors. When I’m not outdoors, I enjoy watching TV and playing video games. Finally, I, of course, enjoy flying.

I am excited to work on this project and it is my goal to expand my repair and technical writing skills. I believe this project will help me professionally by giving me more team project experience, as well as personally by improving my writing and time management. I think this project will benefit me by enhancing my ability to fix and reuse items rather than throw them away and be wasteful. The fast fix project is one that I believe I will enjoy and will be proud of. The prospect of putting this project on my resume is also exciting. This project seems very beneficial to my education and I look forward to contributing to iFixit.
