Greetings! My name is Sean Hopkins and I’m a Junior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
I’m currently enrolled in the Aviation Maintenance Science program with a minor in Avionics Line Maintenance and an area of concentration in Aircraft Accident Investigation. I was originally an Aeronautical Science Major to become a professional pilot but after being exposed to aircraft maintenance I soon fell in love and became hooked!
I aspire to work as a performance engineer at Aston Martin/Redbull Formula One Racing. Racing has always been a huge part of my life and watching the Formula One Grand Prix is always something that I look forward to doing.
I am currently and FAA rated Aircraft Powerplant Technician and I work in an Engine Repair Station where I overhaul Lycoming IO-360-L2A engines off of Embry-Riddle’s fleet of Cessna 172s. This is an amazing experience where I can work with all of the moving parts of the engines that make airplanes fly!
I inspect all of the engine components with various types of inspection methods to ensure that they are in proper condition to be reinstalled and/or repaired to be put back into service.
I am an avid saxophonist and and traveler. Without a doubt the coolest place I’ve ever been was Cuba during Spring Break of 2019. Cuba is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been and I’m already planning on my next trip back!
