Check to see if there is something sticky on the roller that is pulling the paper into the machine if not thoroughly make sure that there is not a crumpled piece of paper up in there they can sometimes hide and when you go to put another piece of paper in it will cause that one too then jam
Gorilla glue, include a photo of the broken bat I will tell you exactly how to fix it if the entire paddle broke off of the handle there's nothing you can do go get a new paddle but if it's just a case of the rubber has come off of the wood part on your paddle then peel off all the rubber and go get some tool dip and read dip your paddle in it essentially re- rubberizing the paddle
If it is drum brakes try greasing the backing plate where the brake shoes sit. It ismost likely locking up because it is adjusted too tight OR your e brake cable could be hung up, and because of this your brakes are already half actuated which is why when you step on them they lock up
