You can try this: Use iPod Reset Utility to fix the following issues: (1) iPod will not play music, and cannot be restored using iTunes. (1) iPod is not recognized by iTunes, but is visible in My Computer or in Device Manager on a Windows PC, or in Apple System Profiler on a Mac. (1) iPod shuffle (1st generation) is identified as a device in "Recovery mode." iPod shuffle (2nd generation) is identified as a "USB DFU device." By booting to the CD meaning, with the power off you insert CD, hold and maintain C key and power up? While continuing to hold the C key until you take root... ? lol I am assuming that you don't have another Mac around?

If you have the installation cd try re-booting from it. Careful not to clean-install on first attempt, although you might eventually have to do so. At least this way, you will be able to figure out if your problem is hardware or software. To reboot from the cd with the power off, I need to know if you have a laptop or desktop.

If this solution is no longer working it is possible that you might need a new thermostat. Try finding a small appliance repair place which offers free estimates. That way you will at least get a diagnostic. Sometimes for minor stuff; adjustments, there is no charge because they want your repeat business. Hope this helps.

I have done this a couple of times over the years. Here's some of the most frequent solutions. Often, it is caused by an accumulation of crumbs around the thermal shut off sensor. This causes the toaster to shut off quicker because it gets too hot. The fix it is unplugging the toaster, taking the outer shell off and cleaning all visible residue out of the toaster. Compressed air, wooden skewers, and slightly damp, lint free cloths are helpful. Reminder: if wiping with damp cloths, please let toaster thoroughly dry before reassembly.
