Yes, definitely need to clean out the ports in the bolt with a needle, can’t believe that’s not included in a guide about maintaining a carburetor.
Similar comment to previous step, it’s a fuel bowl, not a fuel tank.
Yes, definitely clamp off the fuel line with locking pliers. I can’t believe this guide would neglect to mention that.
Also, I would not call this a “tank” — it is not the fuel tank. Everybody who works on small engines calls it a fuel bowl.
My old Macbook was getting pretty hot (90-110 C on the main processor temperature sensor) doing normal tasks so I decided it was probably the thermal paste going bad. Successfully completed this using this guide, typing this on that computer now, thanks! It took me about 3 hours all in, including setup and cleanup afterwards. I did not replace the heat pipe assembly itself, just redid the thermal paste. I am actually curious what the symptoms are that would lead to completely replacing the heat pipe assembly itself. Running much cooler now (59 C).
Agree with @colleenthompson - mine was also rotated 180 degrees from what is shown, which also matches the other side of the computer.
I don't believe this step is actually necessary, the cable is attached on the other side of the logic board and comes along with it, so it just isn't really necessary to disconnect (although it's not hard either).
