Just saw our question while preparing to change a Note 8 and I do not know if you received and answer. GadgetFix or Digital Supply USA(who also uses GadgetFix as a supplier) sell Samsung(original OEM) screens the cheapest so far.
You will find that it is a good precautionary measure to disconnect the battery anytime you are repairing or replacing a screen as a short can occur when reconnecting the screen rendering it useless even if you have the unit turned off.
The lightning connector does not have a gasket but instead some adhesive. You will need to replace this as it creates a seal between the connector and the frame.
As you remove the 3.7 mm screw(orange) be careful of the bracket(Step 51) as it sometimes lifts with the screw and you will need it for re-installation.
Unless you are replacing the speaker you may skip to step 46 as removal of the logic board is not necessary.
It is still recommended to disconnect the antenna in this step as it will allow some slack you may need but tugging or pulling on the antenna cable down at the speaker could still damage it so be patience. Also lift on the connection from the metal portion as lifting from the cable could cause it to snap.
Unless you are replacing the speaker you can skip to step 34 as there is no need to remove the logic board.
You may need to use 2 picks/spudgers to do this as I have found that the socket and connector do not disconnect so easily. Place 1 on the socket and use the other to disconnect the connector.
Excellent idea. No matter which tool you use take your time so not to damage the display assembly further. Even a cracked screen is a great test tool or spare to use while doing other repairs when it still comes on.
Single suction cup will work as well but needs to be placed to the left above the home button(depending on size of cup). Also there is a indentation on the bottom left of the screen assembly that will allow you to insert a jimmy tool or something similar once you lift the screen some from the frame. Once inserted take your time to release the screen across the bottom and sides but remember not to insert to far at the bottom or you may damage the home button cable.
