for those experiencing this issue, but have not achieved resolution: i just took in a 2012 MacBook pro retina 13 which had no display. after trying all of the suggestions, i ended up with a working backlight but no LCD. the solution was to disassemble the laptop and remove the LCD, then remove the clutch cover from the LCD. here i disconnected and reseated all connectors, and partially reassembled the laptop to test. ALL SYSTEMS GO. I suspect this computer took a fall also
allow me to answer my own question(s): if the trackpad doesn’t click, then the trackpad doesn’t click. throw parts at it. if the keyboard and trackpad aren’t working, fully assemble your machine, or at the very least, check the ground circuit because it appears to be incomplete without the case screws in place.
I have successfully swapped these batteries. I have done so without issue. I recently placed the battery from a 2011 into a 2015. No issue on my end. Your mileage may vary
at long last, i was unable to isolate any differences between the mb12 logic boards. deferred to apple for warranty repair. thanks for all of your insight!
very excellent guide, easy to execute. I didn't even do the entire thing:
I disassembled the ps3 until I had the mainboard out, and removed the metal shield from the bottom. with the rest of the components intact, I used my hot air station to reflow the CPU/GPU.
with the processors facing down, and some tin foil with square holes cut (to better shield the rest from the heat), this whole job took me less than 30min.
I used the GeForce GPU reflow profile that I use for macbooks, and it worked like a charm.
Just opened mine up... you could do that if you wanted to. The only other interference for the ssd is one of those silly crimp on metal cages.
