Changing the iPhone 4 Battery - the good, the bad and all done with shaky hands

Mijn probleem

The battery was not holding a charge for a reasonable time. My iPhone 4 is 4 years old and I live in an area which has hot summers.

Mijn oplossing

The biggest issue I had was the tiny screws. I had to put some force to keep the screw driver in place to remove and not strip the screw head.

After the screws came out it was quite simple to remove and replace the battery. The screw which held the battery connector in place was hard to return to its hole. The shaky hands was a condition I have called "essential tremor" which makes working on tee-nee tiny screws very hard. In fact, on the third try, the screw flew to a still unknown part of the carpeted floor.

My solution was to cut a small piece of the bubble wrap which had some sticky stuff and I taped it to the battery connector. I put the back cover on which with the piece of bubble wrap pushing against the connector. Its been a couple of weeks and I've had no problems.

Mijn advies

Include an extra screw in the kit. Or, have a teenager do it (while they still know everything). ;)
