Didn't think I could do it, or that I should even try.

Mijn probleem

Our Macbook Pro 13" unibody began running very slowly and after much debugging, I realizd the HDD was failing. While on the phone with Apple Service, I searched for a site that sold replacment parts. The Apple guy and I both looked at the ifixit site and were impressed. In fact, he said that he had found a new favorite website. I told him I was going to order the new drive from ifixit and would be happy to follow-up with him on the outcome of the operation.

Mijn oplossing

it could not have been any easier. I was truly surprised. Three very helpful features were:

1. The step by step instructions.

2. The cool drive holder/connector that can be used to transfer data from the old drive via USB. I didn't know this existed.

3. The nifty tool set I purchased along with the HDD. I was very impressed by its quality and overall presentation.

After looking at the whole package of items that arrived, I asked my wife, "Who are these people?". The ifixit team does things in a way that we so often wished companies did things.

If ifixit says you can fix it, you can. It's that simple.
