Mijn probleem
I hadn't used my laptop in a couple months and it was just sitting there. When I did finally go to use it, I noticed the casing was warped and the trackpad was pushed up through the opening and I could no longer push down to click. I opened the back and saw that the battery had expanded to about 2-3 times the thickness it should be. I used my friend's ifixit toolkit to remove the expanded battery from the laptop. After I removed the battery, I was able to set the trackpad in its appropriate position. The damaged battery continued to expand after being removed from the laptop and began to come apart.
Mijn oplossing
The repair was simple once I was able to get the expanded battery out.

If you see your case start to expand, or your trackpad start to become distorted (raised through the case or unclickable), make sure you take a look at the battery as soon as possible. The sooner you get an expanded battery out, the better. It could continue to expand inside your computer, to the point that it leaks into your computer components - in which case you will need a completely new computer.
