My playstation 3 that i have had since early 2007 decided that it was time to test my loyality and catch the ever common Yellow light of death. (YLOD) i did some research and come across iFixit and decided to give it a go.
I purchased the standard YLOD kit from iFixit and waited patiently for it to get here all the way USA. i watched the guides several times before the big day and grew confidence. as i sat done with laptop in front of me and screwdriver in hand a quickly learnt that the insides of my playstation 3 didnt look enetirely like the one in the how to guide. i slowly perceivered but in the end after attempting three times (pretty good at taking it apart now!) my attempts weren't successful. the first time showed a glimer of hope with the playstation running just long enough to warm up and then the common double beep and shut down. The version of playstaion i have seems alot simpler than american version from the guide and will attadch some photos of the difference when i can bring myself to pulling it apart again. i dont know if i didnt apply enough heat or didnt apply the thermal paste correctly but either way not a great success.
I felt that the guide on iFixit was great, the speed of the breakdown was good and very detailed. The parts that i recived worked well even if my version of playstaion is different. the task wasnt as ds difficult as it seemed at the time but in my mind it was an all for nothing kind of call. It has served me well and i owed it to her.
