Mijn probleem
I was sitting here, having a good time, then, in a moment of dazed confusion, suddenly the tobacco smoking device was far from vertical and the glug-glug of that not so nice water, yep, right into the keyboard, down into the computer.
At first i turned the macbook air over. Lots of the water drained out. Then I let my girlfriend use it because it still booted. No problems. I thought "hey cool, survived that one"
A day later, nothing. Only the fan would spin for a brief second, then back off.
Mijn oplossing
After a few months I bought the pentalobe screw driver to get into the book and get it booted. Once I got the back cover off, realized I had to go to the hardware store to get a T5 driver to deal with the internal components.
With both those tools in hand it was only a matter of minutes to tear down the book following the wonderful iFixIt guide. Found the culprit, a chunk of ash lodged under the logic board was shorting out a few circuits.
A toothbrush and a bit of rubbing alcohol and the grit was gone.
Put the thing back together (frickin all these millimeter different size screws!) and BOOM that apple noise of boot.
Works like a charm. Saved an estimated $700. w00t.
Mijn advies
Get all the tools before you begin. Rubbing alcohol works wonders on internal corrosion.
