Mijn probleem
My iPhone was running dead earlier each day, it was either a new battery or a new phone.
Mijn oplossing
The new battery is now in and the phone works just as it did. Everything went as I expected, except for getting the old battery to let go.
Mijn advies
Most important, when snapping the display back onto the phone, it's essential that you start with the end opposite the home button. Those tabs are different, so they won't snap in last, and as a result, the screen will bend alarmingly with that end never flush with the phone's edge.
But the real problem was overcoming the glue holding the old battery in place. Prying was getting me nowhere and seemed much too brutal to the surrounding parts. I nearly gave up until I tried several things others have recommended: I heated a frying pan until I could hold my figure on it for only a second, flipped it over and set the phone on the bottom for a couple of minutes to soften the glue. Then, working from the end opposite the home button, and avoiding the clear plastic tab as much as possible, I maneuvered dental floss to the other end.
I photo showing the size and shape of the clear plastic would be a real asset to future floss users.
