CRAPCRAPCRAPCRAP! My phone wasn't working and the insurance wasn't paying up!

My phone randomly stopped charging one day without explanation. After looking at it carefully and cleaning the dock connector I surmised the part had simply ceased functioning. I got in touch with the insurance company who took their sweet time (over a month of back and forth) before finally deciding it wasn't their problem. After a five second search online I discovered ifixit.com and got to do something I've dreamed of since I got the first iPhone model - open her up and see inside.

Mijn oplossing

It was a bit touch and go. Fun and terrifying all at once, the repair took about half an hour in total and was relatively simple. The instructions were clear, but not entirely precise, a list of diagrams describing individual parts beside the guide would be more helpful than being told "be sure not to damage the EMI fingers on the attached Wi-Fi antenna." with a picture showing no EMI fingers in sight and realising they are in fact underneath the bloody thing. In any case I made my way through the instructions without any major difficulties, though I often feel a separate guide should be made to show how to put things back together without having to go backwards through the instructions, but I feel that way about every repair. Final result is that my phone is now working fine and its all thanks to this guide and site.
