Mijn probleem

To be clear, this is much more of an upgrade than a "fix." The goal was to keep my mix-2010 MacBook Pro running smoothly through at least the next two years while I'm still in school. I use a handful of heavy applications, sometimes at the same time, and I had noticed the RAM getting overburdened in ways that it never had before. Instead of buying a new computer, which isn't quite yet justifiable with a 2010, I decided to drop a few hundred dollars and double the RAM (from 2x2gb to 2x4gb) and upgrade the stock 250gb standard HD to a 500gb Solid State Hybrid HD.

While I was at it, I decided to replace the optical drive with a caddy, and put my old 250gb hard drive into that to use as an internal TimeMachine drive.

Mijn oplossing

Changing the hard drive and RAM was super easy and more straightforward than I anticipated.

When removing the stock optical drive, I had some trouble with a stripped screw (which is apparently very common), but that is outside the scope of these products.

Mijn advies

The ~$250 I spent on this upgrade is surely worth it, especially considering the cost of a new computer. I expect this new setup to get me through a few more years, after which I'll upgrade my computer.
