Mijn probleem

Wanted to speed up my mid-2010 Mac mini by replacing the original hard disk with an SSD drive. The machine definitely boots up faster, and is overall slightly faster. I think a newer Mac mini, with a faster SATA 3 would be able to take better advantage of the SSD speed than my SATA 2 Mac mini.

Mijn oplossing

It took about an hour. I did crack one of the temperature sensor connectors while removing it from the board. (They are very tiny.) But, I was able to fix the connector and reassemble it. I would suggest using needle nose pliers to bend the tip (2mm) of a pin at a 90 degree angle. Then slide the tip of the in under the connector and pull upward to unplug the connector.

Mijn advies

To pull the Logic and IO Boards out the 5mm specified, you need to put a small allen key into each of the two holes the instructions mention. Push the allen keys all the way to the bottom of the hole. (I.e. against the top of the aluminum case.) Then sort of use the allen key as a lever against the board. (Press the key down onto the casing and pull it toward you, pulling the board out the 5mm.)
