Mijn probleem
Battery in my Gen 1 iPod was exhausted. Replaced battery. Did not want to finance the educations of Steve Jobs's grandchildren with the purchase of a new iPod Gen 5.
Mijn oplossing
The repair was successful, but I was not prepared for the miniaturization of the board and the solder points -- the photos made things look bigger than they actually are! Needed a jeweler's loupe. My eyesight is not that good. By the way, I did not totally remove the logic board, just partially lifted it off the panel.
Mijn advies
The plastic tools supplied by iFixit are inadequate to removing the back cover, which is tightly glommed on. Sharp knives and small razor blades as shims were useful. Case slightly marred and deformed. But the devices works!
