I got the YLOD lights with my game stuck inside the system. Went on Youtube and found a temporary solution to get the Playstation 3 running & my game that I rented from redbox out. It involved sitting a while using a hair dryer. It worked got the disk out, but PS3 only stayed on for a day or two. Then I saw this kit on youtube. And it seem doable.
I took me about 3hrs. Taking apart was not too bad, easier then I thought. Once I layed out all the pieces on the floor. I took my time cleaning very carefully the old thermal paste off the chips & heat sink. Took my time with putting heat on the mother board & very careful not to move or touch. Putting back together took my time. and forgot to put the stupid little battery back when I had the ps3 all together. But after all said and done. plugged in and has happy to see the ps3 live on!!!
1. There are a lot of screws. I recommend using tape to stick the screws to what ever you take off. To keep things in place. Also take pictures of video yourself so you have reference.
2. Don't forget to put the Little battery back in!!!!!!!!!!
3. The video on Youtube is ok. But would like to see more time & video on where all the screws they took out, how to apply the thermal paste.
