Mijn probleem

My IPhone 3Gs battery has expanded breaking the rear cover of the phone. The battery life was very short, therefore I have to fix it.

Mijn oplossing

I bought the battery and it has arrived within 15 days. Not too bad for a cheap shipment from US to Switzerland.

I replaced the battery and it was not working. Did everything, even talk with Apple adviser - all in wain. But then I have call to IFixit and they have explained me that the battery I have purchased was incorrect. Apparently 3G and 3Gs batteries are not compatible. They have sent me the battery replacement and all working now - no problem. But what should I do with the 3G battery? First I have tried to send it back. IFixit were very helpful and gave me special code I could use to return goods. It would cost 11 Francs (about the same in USD) to ship it back. However, the Swiss post office considered these batteries to be dangerous goods and returned it back to me. My wife has IPhone 3G for a while. Not if she has complained a lot about its battery life but I decided to replace it anyway. At the end of the day the shipment with fedex or other would cost as much as the battery. So I have replaced the battery. This works from the first time.

Mijn advies

Make sure you buying the correct battery for the device you owed. It seems that even the battery looks exactly the same and fits to the phone you have it will not work unless the correct part installed.

I found that it is easier to remove and install back the telephone microchip panel together with the phone camera. The camera plug will not fit into the panel properly unless the camera was removed from its place and connected to the panel before its installation.
