Mijn probleem

Dropped my iPad from approx 5 inches and the corner struck my iPhone5 near the home button. Cracked the glass on BOTH devices! If I discuss it any further I'll need more meds! Anyway, I decided to repair the iPhone because it started randomly dialing some of my contacts via voice control at any hour, including one at one am. The cracked corner of the iPad is barely noticeable, so in can live with it

Mijn oplossing

A little background up front. I have an electronics background including microcircuit repair. Repair went well with the exception of some key oversights in use of the tools in the purchased kit. Due to the cracked glass near the home button the suction cup was almost worthless for lifting the face, air leakage. Eventually I was able to remove pieces of the broken glass using tweezers and used that point to provide a lifting point to pull up on the face enough to wedge the plastic pry tool under the edge of the face. The rest of the R&R went well. Total R&R time 1.5 hours.

Mijn advies

Just a couple of minor suggestions. The plastic pry tool should have one end with a very thin pry edge. Some of the components are to tight to get the tool under with the present thickness. I can see where someone might use too much force trying and damage a component when a slip occurs, and they will occur. Also review the iPhone 5 procedure. I noticed a very small black plastic "spacer" when I removed the camera/microphone assembly. When installing the parts it took me a while to figure out where it went through trial and error. It goes under the longer screw(4mm). Nothing mentioned in the removal or install procedures about it. If you are not aware it could get lost during removal.
