A nearly great but in the end just pretty good experience

my wife shattered her iphone 5 screen and wouldn't stop making my life miserable until i fixed it. we live in Peru - not in Lima - and parts / repairs are not available here.

In the end, the repair was fine. the guide was outstanding!! such clear detailed explanations made everything possible. the problems - 1) when the screen is shattered the suction cup can not create a seal and it took almost an hour to get the screen to separate from the phone body, finally resorting to prying it up with a thin bladed swiss army knife. 2 - the 00 phillips head screwdriver DOES NOT WORK on the smallest (1.2mm) screws. You must use a 000, or perhaps if you sold a 00 with a finer point, but the one you sent me is rather blunt and was useless. 3 -- the plastic opening tools are very blunt and at times you need a very fine edged tool, again i had to resort to my swiss army knife

Buy the screen and use the guide, but the tools - apart from the pentalobe which worked as advertised - were a waste of money. get a phillips 000, here or somewhere, maybe a bigger stronger suction cup, and if there's a really fine edged opening tool or spudger get that. also be prepared to spend some time getting the front facing camera centered when reassembling.
