Mijn probleem

My wifes iPhone 4s quit taking a charge. Checked it out, and could see what appeared to be burn marks on the phone and the cord connector. Took it to Apple, and they said the phone must have gotten wet, and they had this $200 look in their eyes. Decided it was worth a shot to fix it myself

Mijn oplossing

All in all, I'd say the process was very easy. It was definitely easier than the instructions led me to believe. I did run into a couple of issues, but that was more my fault than anything. I did not get the microphone seated properly the first time. So I had to take the phone apart again and reseat the mic in the tube. Put it all back together, then I was informed the home button did not work. Doh! Had to take the phone back apart again because I forgot to attach the cable the second time around. I was not paying close enough attention, and just though "I got this!". All in all, the repair the first time took me about 25-30 minutes. It was also 2am, and I had enjoyed myself a few "beverages" and was feeling pretty motivated to fix this thing. After taking it apart the first time, it only took me about 10 minutes to have it taken apart, fixed and put back together. Don't be scared.

Mijn advies

If you replace the dock connector, make sure the mic hole is not covered. Not sure if there was a plastic covering that I forgot to take off, or if there was some residual glue leftover from the old one. Either way, there was an adhesive "booger" covering the mic that caused me to have to take apart the phone, remove the stuff, and put it back together
