Mijn probleem
My wife 3-year-old MacBook Pro simply past away and I drove the 30 minute gap in between us and the nearest Apple store, expecting to drop it for a fortnight. I was told I should come back 5 hours later as I did not have any appointment and the Tech guy could, maybe, have a look at it then... And that could also cost us about 600€ for the estimation ! (Lot of uncertainties)
Back home, as quiet as a bull, I placed an order for a 500GHDD and the connecting nappe, received them home, small place in France, two days later. I just changed the connecting cable to check my previous hard drive and 20 minutes later, it was running perfectly, without any lost data !
For 214$, and 3 days we have a smoothly running MacBook + a brand new backup HDD. It would have cost us more than 1000$, 2 weeks and probably the lost of our current hard drive here at the Apple store.
Mijn oplossing
A bit of thrill when you are with your screwdriver, about to open the divine computer for 10 or 15 seconds... Then, thank for Ifixit descriptions, you realize it is just a box and after 20 minutes, it is closed and rebooted normally.
Mijn advies
I already told this story to my colleagues and they all came up with their little glitches to be fixed. I would not be surprised if you receive some more orders from France in the coming months.
