Mijn probleem

My 4 yrs old iPhone 3GS began shutting down randomly during the use of the Hipstamatic Camera app and other hi energy requesting apps. A full battery charge lasted no more than 4 hrs in standby, so I decided to go for the iFixit battery replacement bundle

Mijn oplossing

I followed carefully all the instructions found both on the iFixit site and on youtube, but probably something went wrong with the flat connector of the touch screen.

After reassembling the phone, the touch function on the screen didn't work. I checked all connections again and I noticed only then that there was this little invisible flip on the mainboard that secured the flat to the connector...

I figure I probably damaged that when unmounting the phone in the begining.

Ok. I remounted everything again and the phone seemed to work again...

Except for the fact that all the left vertical area of the touch screen was non sensible to touch anymore...

Anyway after a shutdown & restart the screen turned white. Yes the famous 'White screen of death' most of us know of from youtube and iphone blogs.

I took the phone to a PC repair shop, and they diagnosed a faulty screen. I got it replaced for 38€ and now my iphone works flawlessly.

Ah, sorry...

The new battery works great!

Mijn advies

If you are not an experienced technician, go through all possible repair manuals and tutorials prior putting your hand on your little phone...

I probably have been too superficial in thinking that it was just a matter of taking out a couple of little screws. The operation is not that easy and smooth if you wanna be sure not to damage other parts of your iPhone.
