Mijn probleem

I was on vacation in Hawaii and synced all my photos/video but the one day that it fell in the water (which of course had the funnest adventure yet). Ran to a nearby Apple store and was given an appointment only for them to say my phone was not recoverable. Determined to save my phone and restore my pics, I decided to let it dry out and hope for the best.

Mijn oplossing

After a week of letting the phone dry up in rice, I plugged it in and heard the familiar plug-in sound. Ultimately, all my reminders kept going off but the phone screen was black. The screen wouldn't respond to touch but it was recognized on iTunes. So I decided to buy the display from iFixit. It took me 3 hours of anal retentiveness to take the phone apart and follow the instructions to the tee. When I finally put it all back together, the next day I noticed a really dim screen enough to swipe and enter my passcode. This allowed me to back up and restore data off the phone!

Mijn advies

Was still puzzled as to why the screen was still pretty black so I emailed iFixit for advice. They suggested that I attempt

to clean the logic board with a toothbrush and alcohol. A litle doubtful, I obliged anyway and so glad I did! The screen is now brightly visible and functions as if it were never dropped in water to begin with. Thank you iFixit!!! I did fix it!!
