Around & Around We Go: Adventures with Refunds, Cross-Ships, and Dock Connectors

Mijn probleem
Thought my iPhone 4S was having battery issues, but it turned out to be my dock connector. Never fear, iFixit to the rescue!
Mijn oplossing
Installed a battery from iFixit end to end no problem reading their guide. Phone booted up fine with a partial charge that the battery shipped with, but was slowly going down and refused to charge. Figured out it must be the dock connector, emailed the iFixit team explaining my dilemma, and they promptly messaged back my refund/exchange. I returned my new battery, bought the dock connector, and installed my new part but ALAS the microphone sounded like I was talking into a Solo cup. Emailed iFixit, they cross-shipped me a new dock connector, I got the new one, replaced, bing, bang, boom, phone works like a charm. The iFixit team were LIFESAVERS. My original refund (for the battery) came back without a hitch, my first dock connector is on the way back to iFixit, and my iPhone 4S works like a champ again. Would highly recommend the iFixit replacement guides to anyone having to take those pentalobe screws off.
Mijn advies
Lightly wipe your connectors with a Q-Tip with Windex while slapping the phone back together. Don't know why it works as well as it does but just do it and save yourself the 10-15 minutes of taking the phone back apart to do what you didn't bother with the first time around.
