Mijn probleem
I was rock climbing outside of Cumberland, MD with my iPhone 4S stored in the padded cellphone pocket of my backpack. When I come down from a climb, check the time, and my screen is completely fractured. I have no idea how it happened, the backpack was sitting next to a tree and there wasn't any sign of rock fall that would damage it. Oh well, off to iFixIt for a replacement.
Mijn oplossing
The repair was fun, and I'm very satisfied with the results. In total it took a little over 1:45 (including a short break to get a snack) and I wasn't faced with many issues. The trickiest thing about the entire process was tracking and organizing the tiny little screws that hold everything together. If you can manage 20 screws about 1.2mm x 0.4mm, you'll be fine.
Mijn advies
If you own it, a jewelers lens or magnifying glass on a stand would make this a bit easier, especially in the corners. Also, patience is a virtue here. Some of these screws are very hard to get back into the proper position and are easily lost, so take you time and make sure you're working in a place where it's easy to find tiny things.
