MacBook Air (late 2010) battery replacement - the good, the bad (and ugly ?)

philip -

Mijn probleem

Some time ago I tried to order a MacBook Air replacement battery with iFixit, but due to shortage of supply it was going to take too long for me get the part. I did order the screwdrivers for the job (T5 and P5). And I found another supplier for the battery (won't name the company, but they claim to love macs alot). They supplied the wrong model battery and subsequently refused to refund for the wrong item and the corresponding shipment and customs clearing costs until I was able (after very long and frustrating argumentation by e-mail and escalation to their sales manager) to get the refund (the wrong battery was returned to them with FedEx). This took several weeks.

As if by coincidence, the day I receive confirmation that the wrong battery was returned, iFixit notified me that the item was again in stock ... so I ordered the item with iFixit. Within 3 days I had the CORRECT battery in my house, and 10 minutes later had it installed in the MacBook Air ...

No need to clarify who in this story is referred to in my story title as "the good", and who is referred to as "the bad (and ugly)" ...

Way to go iFixit, great customer satisfaction here ...

Mijn oplossing

Very easy, step-by-step instructions were very accurate and made it a really fast replacement

Mijn advies

Don't hesitate to purchase the tools and spare parts with iFixit ... and avoid suppliers who through their company name claim to "love macs" but don't even know what customer service is ...
