Mijn probleem

On a beautiful summer day when I was working outside on my MacBook Pro, a tiny drop of coffee dropped on the notebook's trackpad (mousepad). That was enough to break it partially. It wasn't anymore possible to use the physical click on the trackpad - only by "tapping" the mouse remained functional. It's possible to get used to that, but wasn't a solution for me.

Therefore I had to replace the trackpad.

Mijn oplossing

Repair went well, especially because of the amazing tutorials on this website. I have nothing to add - everything very well explained & difficult parts well mentioned.

Annoying is the big variety of screws Apple uses in their products. Yes, we know that Apple doesn't want us to open their computers and earn themselves some money with high repair fees. But do they really need to bother us users with Tri-wing screws?!! It's a battery which should be replaceable without any hurdles. Couldn't be made dumber - especially when I think of that older MacBooks provided a simple "click in, click out" method for the battery.

I have a big variety of screwdrivers, but not those tri-wing ones. I could still take it apart carefully with another screwdriver. I wouldn't recommend it though, since probably can hurt screw and screwdriver easily.

Anyways: Thanks ifixit.com! Already the 2nd time I could save a notebook with your replacement pieces.

Mijn advies

Be sure that you have all the screwdrivers you need! ifixit.com offers them all & next time I will include them in my order. I thought I would have all the tools, but Apple products are always full of surprises!
