Mijn probleem

The battery in my hand-me-down phone was dying rapidly.

Can't tell you how many times we said "Should have taken it to Apple," but we finally managed it between the two of us. We forgot to take any pictures, but I've added one of the phone back together and in its new case (very pink).

Mijn advies

Do this if you have small hands and good eyes, and/or magnifying headgear. Don't have small children around because you will swear now and again. Make a clean, contained area as there are teeny, tiny screws that can get lost. Use the kit that Fixit sent, it is invaluable. Not for a beginner or faint of heart. Heat the back of the case with a hairdryer, as per the instructions, to help get the old battery out; a pair of pliers on the pull tab of the battery helps actually get it out. Remember, if all else fails, you can gather up the bits and pieces, make an appointment at an Apple Store and then take it to them for a total $79 overhaul, which may just get you a higher operating system; even if you don't do it (we didn't), its reassuring to know the option is there. . Oh, before you start, make sure all your stuff is backed up on your computer.
