No Drama. :)

Mijn probleem

After about 3 years my 17" macbook pro died. It was apparently due to a factory flaw and apple did fix it for free. No problem except I live in Tbilisi and there's no AASP anywhere near here. The shipping was way too expensive and The Georgian Government tried to charge me VAT, (about $900), when my machine was shipped back to me... NIGHTMARE! A year later when the right fan in my laptop died, I decided to do it myself but couldn't get a T6 Torx screwdriver out here that would fit. Luckily, I came across ifixit in a google search. Much Thanks Guys!

Mijn oplossing

The repair was easy with the ifixit guide. I did take some precautions of my own like making sure my 3 year old son was asleep for the night before I started. I followed the guide step-by-step and had no trouble at all. I put the screws from each step into its own jar cap lined up on the table in front of me but knew, by the time I pulled the old fan out, that remembering what went where wouldn't be a problem for me. The whole process took about 40 minutes from the first screw out - to me smiling down at my powered up macbook pro. No drama. No problems.

Mijn advies

The only advise I'd give is to be gentle and go slowly especially with those circuit board mounted connectors, the trackpad ribbon cable and pulling off the tape connected to the fan... Enjoy the process & good luck!
