I wanted to fix it because it is less expensive than buying a new phone.
The repair was long. I only have the use of 1 hand. My right hand is paralyzed. I actually LOST the earpiece when doing the repair and that is why I had to order it.
Keep track of your screws. Not all of the tools supplied by iFixit worked the best because the phillips (star) tip was not sharp enough even though it was a size 0. Being magnetic is great when disassembling but not when reassembling. I ended up buying a new non-magnetic set from our local Canadian Tire store. The Tweezers are a MUST!
Another thing is the glue that Apple uses. They use a lot of it. The power ribbon is glued to the case and it tore when I unclipped it from the circuit board so be careful.
The replacement Glass does not come with the button. That has to be removed from the old glass. It is held in-place by a thin rubber casing which has to be torn away to remove the button. You will have to align the button correctly when reassembling.
In the end my son was extremely glad that it was fixed.
