Mac Is Back In Town

Mijn probleem

Power supply failure. My first computer!! Used! Didn't want to spend any more than I had to on repair. Decided to try and repair my self. Wanted to learn more about my Mac, from the inside.

Mijn oplossing

Repair went great!!! Have been back up and running for 4 days now. No more problems turning pwr on. Next is my hard drive, which has be diagnosed as failing. Have no concerns about attempting hard drive replacement. Have already downloaded inst. from iFixit.com.

Purchased power supply from ifixit will also be purchasing new hare drive from them. Very pleased with the processing of my pwr supply order.

Mijn advies

Long tipped torx T10 bit for removing & installing display screws, or peanut butter like I did for installing.

A bright head lamp is very helpful.

EMI tape on display edges, peel back? Not going to happen. I used razor knife to cut EMI tape and repaired with strips of foil tape.

Labeled zip lock sandwich bags great place to keep screws as they are removed. Labeling bags (step # and screw purpose ie...

"display screws") made reassemble rather easy. No guess work about, "is this the correct screw?"
