Mijn probleem

The screen would go black at certain angles upon being opened . Over a few months the problem got worse . The local repair shop could have fixed it for $300 but I was able to do it for a tenth the cost thanks to this website.

Mijn oplossing

I followed the photo instruction guide which made it straightforward enough though my model of Macbook has some differences in location and number of screws holding the various pieces together.

Mijn advies

Be patient and go easy taking the keyboard cover off - work around the perimeter and if some areas seem stubborn they may be held in place by additional screws that were not noted in the fix it guide .

As others have mentioned have a system worked out so that for each step you have those screws separate , there are a lot of them . An empty ice cube tray works well with each compartment being labeled with a number written on masking tape.

Being a 2008 Macbook it is all plastic bodied , there was some cracking of the keyboard cover during the dismantling which seems unavoidable .... I can see why they went to an all metal body .

The Phillips #00 screwdriver works for all the screws but I should have had the next size or two larger for a few of the screws . The #00 screwdriver barely lasted for the repair as the head of it is so small it seems damage is inevitable .

Thanks to the Ifixit website I got the job done !
