Mijn probleem

My MacBook Pro when I bought it was great, but 2GB RAM and 160GB HD Storage became WAY too little. I got SOOOOO tired of deleting files from my machine and was running out of options. I needed room to work. I couldn't do anything with Movie editing anymore and had to use my home machine to do my work, which the family didn't like at all.

Mijn oplossing

The repair went well overall from a hardware perspective but I spent more money than I had to and some things haven't worked out yet.

The work of getting the old HD out and the new one in was a snap. Getting the old image on the new drive was pretty easy too. Getting the Lion Recovery Drive on there and my BootCamp partition on there... well... still not done with the bootcamp. WinClone doesn't support FAT32 drives and I am too scared to convert it to NTFS. UGH! I'll figure something out...

Mijn advies

I drew an outline of my machine on a piece of paper and drew little circles where each screw goes. Then as I pulled off a screw, I taped it onto its little circe. This way, when I had to replace them all, I just went around my paper and pulled screws off and put them back in the machine. I didn't drop or lose any parts and didn't have to go back through the screens again. I had to do it twice due to not creating the Lion Restore partition on my new drive before installing it. MAKE SURE TO CREATE THE LION RECOVERY PARTITION using the Apple tool BEFORE you put the drive in your machine. It must be on a USB connection in order for the Apple tool to see the drive and work with it.
