Revival of the powerbookG4

Mijn probleem

This powerbook went screen-crazy, strange blocky things on screen.

describing what happened in a google-search I got convinced it was the graphics-card, which is unseparable of the motherboard.

So looking for a motherboard, found a cheep one on E-bay and decided to go for it. Next step; how to replace? That's when I found ifixit, the beginning of the revival of the powerbook...

Mijn oplossing

The repair manual was my bible and my saving. As I read the manual before the operation (very recommendable) I already knew about the thermal paste. In an act of gratitude toward ifixit, bought it here, although shipping was more expensive then the paste itself.

But hey, they provided the whole manual for free...

About the repair itself, it would make a boring story because it's just a matter of following the steps from A to Z and then backwards.

Mijn advies

The enlightenment was to press the power button and see that the computer revived from this open heart transplant, as if nothing had happened! I-FIXED_IT!

PS. I'm sorry it didn't occur to me to take pictures of the process, but they would have been similar to the repair manual...
