Repairing a 1st gen MacBook

Mijn probleem

A friend of mine needed a laptop - and is currently unemployed. My downstairs neighbor had a MacBook, that appeared to work, but the left hinge was broken and the display was tenuous. Opening and closing it almost tore it all to shreds. I offered to fix it for her if she sprang for the parts...

Mijn oplossing

I got down with my headlamp, lots of little ziploc bags, a pad of paper and a sharpee. As I took apart the laptop at each stage, I taped the pieces to a numbered sheet of paper or placed them in a labeled ziploc. I got all the way in, when I realized all the the threads on the back display cover were broken off….

I had to set it aside, order the other part, and wait. When the back display came, I pulled it all out, finished everything, and then the display did not turn on :(

Back in I went, realized I had not properly secured the video cable, fixed it, closed it, and it all worked!!!

ONLY 5 hours…..

Take apart the unit before ordering parts, like that you can be sure you have all the parts you need she you order them!!
