Caffeinated MacBook Air

Mijn probleem

Client of mine must have decided her MacBook Air was having an issue getting out of sleep mode so she poured an entire mug of coffee on it. She kept trying to use it. Eventually it would not boot. Desperately needed the info from the 256GB SSD drive (of course had not backed up). Since the computer was fried she was going to have to buy a new MacBook Air anyway. They brought both machines to me to swap the old (hopefully still working) SSD into the new one for immediate access to the data.

Alas…

With all of the custom tools I have for Macs I DID NOT have this specific screwdriver.

TekServe and Mike's Macs were unwilling to let me borrow/rent/buy (and immediately give back) any of theirs. And they were only offering a 2 day turn-around (at best) for what is clearly a 20 minute max job.

I ordered this screwdriver for overnight delivery.

Mijn oplossing

Screwdriver was delivered at 10:20AM the next morning.

10 minutes later the new caffeine-free MacBook Air was good to go with her old SSD.

Client was ECSTATIC.

I was a hero.

Those NYC stores missed out on free money.

(the SSD is fine...that coffee mark on it was easily rubbed off)
